James Franco won Best Actor in a musical or comedy for his portrayal of Wiseau. The film was nominated for two Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture, musical or comedy. He really understood that part of my life and took it seriously. “We had met up a few times before and talked about what the character was. “He did a great job,” Sestero says of Dave Franco’s performance. It documented Sestero’s involvement with the production of the cult 2003 film The Room, directed by his friend, the mysterious Tommy Wiseau. The actor was portrayed on-screen by Dave Franco in James Franco’s film The Disaster Artist, an adaptation of the book Sestero co-wrote with journalist Tom Bissell in 2013. Greg Sestero has had quite a year. Looking back, it feels a little meta.
